Hello everyone! I am 18 and I was born and raised in Chattanooga. I have been home schooled my whole life and I hope to attend Bethany College of Missions to get a B.A. in cross cultural studies in the fall of 2010. I am the next to youngest of 6 kids, and 5 of us are still at home. One of my brothers has special needs, so my heart always goes out to families who have individuals that need a little extra loving care. I used to volunteer at the Creative Discovery Museum, which focuses in hands on exhibits for children.
I love children, anything out doors (although I am not athletic), reading, food (who doesn't?) sharing time with hurting people, service activities, ball room dancing, the computer... I guess in a nutshell, I enjoy life. God put us here to learn about his creation, to lean how to use it profitably. He wants us to enjoy it and use it for His glory.
I have a heart for missions and one of my goals for this trip is to get a little exposure to the field. I would like to go to Japan as a missionary eventually. People are starting to ask me why I am going to Peru if I hope to go to Japan. To be honest, I have no humanly clue. All I know is that without a shadow of a doubt, God called me to go to Peru this summer. I knew that God had something in store for me in the field, and I started looking and praying where I should go. My heart jumped when I saw this trip. It didn't make since except that I love the out doors and the name sounded adventurous. I struggled with it for a while, but God has given the peace and reassurance that this is where I should be and I am ecstatic!
I am sure most all of us are anxious about fund raising, as I am, but God would not have put it in our hearts to do something that He wouldn't provide everything we need. I think it is one of His ways of building our faith so we will be stronger on the field. Hang in there!
P.S. I will need some help with my Spanish skills because I took Japanese for high school :D
