Hey you all, I found an excellent manual on short-term missions. Of course every trip is different, and most of us have already been on some sort of missions trip, but I have to say, it is the best book of its kind. It covers immunizations and how effective they are, symptoms of diseases and what to do about them, a general packing list, safety precautions, reality checks of what mission work actually involves, the importance of knowing some of the local language, how to deal with culture shock, good questions to ask the locals, and the list goes on. It is a powerful book and I highly recommend reading it. The author began going on short term mission trips in the 80s and from her experiences wrote this book to help people be better prepared for missions trips. I am excited about Successful Mission Teams a guide for volunteers, by Martha VanCise. If you read it,I hope you find it helpful.
Sincerely
Sarah Wright
