Still Sharing

Hey all,
I'm finally reentering the world of computers, and am not sure how I feel about that.  I just got on facebook yesterday and read all your updates and comments and am so encouraged by the way you guys are being one anothers support.  You are all constantly in my thoughts, prayers and conversations.

I feel like I could write a thousand thoughts on the transition home, but I think Josh said it all in that this is a time, whether it's good or bad for you, to get on your knees before the King and give it all to Him.  He's holding you in His hand and He sees you.

A few things that I need from you all, and that will hopefully help with the processing:

1.  Please continue to share your stories with family and friends, but also post them on the blog page (not this one but on: http://peru-amazon.adventures.org/).  I know we didn't have a lot of time to post while on the field, but people back at home still need and want to hear your stories-and see pictures!  It's also a great opportunity to remind each other what God has done, and is still doing.  Plus, I want to read them! ;)

2.  Please take a few minutes to fill out this evaluation for AIM at http://tinyurl.com/RL-final-Peru-0710 it helps them know how to serve future teams as well as how to help you now that your home.

Thanks so much team!  Remember you can contact me at anytime, though I seem to be leaving my cell phone in random places.  I don't recieve txt on my phone so don't be offended if you txt me with no response, I simply don't get it.

Love you all,
Carly

PS how do I get into the facebook group, and what's the info on the Flikr account again?

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  -1 Peter 2:9

Just a Note

Hey, I want to let you all know how proud I am of all of you.  I'm proud of your step of faith because this is hard, and scary, but let me also assure you it's wonderful and beautiful too.  I'm praying over your insecurities, but also praying that God makes you more uncomfortable, because you have too much strength and depth for it not to be tested and it will be, but you'll have all of us supporting you.

It's going to be an incredible start of something this summer; and I am so blessed to get to lead and come alongside you all in it.

If you need any specific prayers, words of encouragement or just a kick in the pants, feel free to email me: carlyfarver@gmail.com

Blessings and see you all soon!

T-Shirts

Hey team! I have a fun idea that I have done on past missions trips. Bring a solid color t shirt with you and when you are getting ready to leave an area and you want to remember people, have the kids sign it. It is a great way to be creative while having a tangible way to remember those you came in contact with. When you get back home, the t shirt will help you to be able to pray for specific people, and it will give you a chance to share about your trip if people ask about it. It is also a very inexpensive souvenir :D

Host Gifts

Hey I was thinking we should compile a list of the what we have for the host gifts that we need to bring. I have not gotten anything yet but would love to go out and get some gifts and just thought I would see what was needed.
Thanks!

Books

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what books everyone was going to take, so then we didn't have the same ones for the trip.  I plan on bringing "Irrestible Revolution," because it is an amazing book and want to read it again.

My hearts Cry

Ok, so I have only a few days left before I leave for my mission's trip. It has been a long journey for me to get to this place and yet, I don't really know where I am. I am leaving to chase after God. For He has called me to himself. He is taking me into the jungle, to show me His wonderful creation. I will get to see His face! I will see it in the eyes of an orphan, in the smile of a widow, and in the heart throb of a prisoner who is crying for love. He is taking me out of my world and putting me far from everything I have known so that I will have to lean on Him for everything I need. He is placing me with strange people in order to chisel away the parts of me that are not like Him. He is the only familiar thing that I will have. I am excited, but at the same time, can I bear it? Will Jesus be enough? Will I have the stamina to minister to other people, when I will be venerable and needy myself? Is it possible for God to use a broken vassal to minister to other people? I am going to be laid bare; all of my hurts and cracks will be opened because all of the walls I hide behind will be broken. I will be as helpless as a baby. And for these reasons, God is guiding me away. To show me His character and what I can do through Him. To prove to my inmost being He is who He said He is, and that He will do what He said He would do. God is going to lead me to a place where I can fall in love with Him and where He can heal what has been broken. I know in my heart He is going to do a great work in me this summer.

Crafts!!!

Hey everybody!!! It's time to start buying craft supplies! yeah! :)

I have compiled a list of crafts to do with kids and women, and we can of course expand on this later if we want or need to, but here it is:

Crafts for Kids/VBS:
-make crosses out of sticks and tie together with yarn
- bracelets with the different color beads symbolizing different things
-oragami whale
-color pictures
-making butterflies or flowers out of coffee filters
-making crown/necklace out of leaves
-making/coloring paper crowns

Crafts for women:
-friendship bracelets
-homemade journals---- fold and cut regular paper and fold a piece of construction paper around it. poke two holes through the paper, and tie with yarn. Then you can color the cover (the construction paper) with crayons

I have some of the supplies already. Here is a list of the rest of the supplies and a guess of how much of each supplies we would need to bring to do those crafts. If yall would each comment and just say what you will bring, that would be great!
-crayons-- 5 boxes of 24 crayons (I think they come in packs of 24)
-coffee filters- 2 packs of 200
-yarn or string for bead bracelets- 1 or 2 skeins of yarn. I bought basic cheap yarn for the other crafts that was 120 yards on a skein at hobby lobby. The brand is called Lily sugar 'n cream. You can buy any brand, that's just what I found.
-lined notebook paper- at least 180 sheets
-white paper- 500 sheets
-construction paper- at least 45 sheets
-scissors- 5 pairs
-beads- I saw packs of each color bead at hobby lobby. If a different person could volunteer to buy each color, that would work well. We need one pack of each color: black, red, white, blue, green, and yellow.
-embroidery floss for friendship bracelets and journals- 1 pack of 36 multicolor Embroidery Floss. I bought one pack, but now i don't know if it will be enough, so if someone else wants to get a pack that would be great! They sell them at hobby lobby. You can buy embroidery floss individually or in a pack; I suggest buying a pack.

Thanks everybody! And again these numbers aren't certain, so if you want to get more than this, or if you have thoughts of supplies i may have missed,  feel free to comment! And also, how we need multiples of some supplies, just put what you want to get. For example, five different people could buy one box of crayons.
